TUCSON, Ariz. —Habitat for Humanity Tucson’s holiday giving challenge — the 2015 Builder’s Challenge — matches up to $90,000, now until December 31, 2015.Â
The Dorothy Harmsen and Bill Harmsen, Sr. Charitable Foundation and an anonymous donor generously provide this year’s holiday match up to $90,000. All donations will be matched by both donors – tripling the benefits of gifts. Gifts will enable families in Southern Arizona to secure safe, decent and affordable homes.
All other donors are asked to meet the challenge by going online to HabitatTucson.org/x3. If someone does not have access to the internet, they can call (520) 326-1217 and donate to the challenge.
Last year, donors helped Habitat Tucson staff and volunteers begin construction on 21 affordable, sustainable homes. Additionally, the funds aided Habitat Tucson’s efforts to help families, individuals, seniors and veterans with home repairs that improve quality of life and safety on aging homes in Tucson, Marana, Amado and Sahuarita.
All charitable donations to Habitat for Humanity Tucson made before the end of the year are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit through the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit. Donors do not need to itemize taxes to claim the credit. Taxpayers filing as a single person may receive a credit up to $200 or up to $400 if filing jointly. Additionally, donors may take both the charitable and school tax credit.
Donors have until December 31, 2015 to meet challenge and tax requirements.
