Celebrating Chelsea’s New Home

World Habitat Week concluded with Chelsea receiving the keys to her new home! She celebrated her home dedication with the whole Habitat community.

Through Chelsea’s effort and the partnership of her community, Chelsea has given her kids a safe haven. Habitat Tucson was proud to celebrate alongside her when she received the keys to her new home.

Surrounded by family, friends, and supporters, Chelsea shared these words:“It’s scary to put your life in someone else’s hands. But where I am now, I can see that God has given me everything I need. He has blessed me with two wonderful kids who are my world. And now a home, to keep us safe from harm. And hope for a better future.“All of this would not be possible without the help of all the wonderful people God has brought into my life. Firstly, to my amazing parents: my dad, who is no longer with us but is still in my heart. My mom, who is my best friend. Thank you for making me the person that I am today. Thank you, Mom, for coming over at 5 AM almost every single Saturday for 9 months to watch my kids while I completed my sweat equity. You are everything to me. And I know I can always count on you. And thank you for always being there, for your love and support.“And to a former Habitat crew leader, who encouraged me to apply, even though I was sure there was no way I would be selected. Thank you so much for your great advice.“And thank you to Tina and Gabriela for their support and for their help throughout this whole process. It’s been wonderful working with you both. And to my home partner Mike, thank you for your words of encouragement and your continuing to share all my joy through every milestone.“And I can’t forget the wonderful construction crew. These men are some of the most patient people you will ever meet. They constantly teach and reteach new volunteers every day, and do so with smiles on their faces. Thank you for all of your patience and knowledge. I have learned so much.“And finally, thank you to the numerous volunteers and donors. None of this would have been possible without you.I am humbled by how much love you share, to give the time out of your busy lives to help a complete stranger make a better life for themselves and their families. No words can describe how extremely grateful I am to all of you.”Watch the video of Chelsea’s speech below and read the rest of Chelsea’s empowering story here.
