From Challenges to Comfort: Patti Felix’s Home Restoration Journey

Patti Felix lives on the south side of Tucson, a residence that has been a cornerstone of her beloved neighborhood since its construction in 1972. This tight-knit community, where most residents have lived since the 1970s, is known for its spirit of neighborly care and support.

However, Patti’s home faced a series of challenges. Minor electrical issues, a leaking roof, dripping faucets and unfinished drywall were all in need of attention. Patti’s late husband had begun addressing these repairs, tackling the HVAC duct work and drywall, but, sadly, he fell ill and passed away from
COVID before the projects could be completed

Ensuring Patti’s home was fully repaired was not just about comfort; it was a matter of safety.

With Tucson’s intense summer heat bearing down, it was crucial for Patti and her family to have a safe, comfortable, and cool home. Heat-related deaths among seniors, particularly those living alone and without air-conditioning, have been rising. Ensuring Patti’s home was fully repaired was not just about comfort; it was a matter of safety.

Habitat for Humanity Tucson was happy to partner with Patti on her home’s much-needed repairs, and her home received the care it needed. Electrical issues were resolved, roof leaks were fixed, drywall was completed, and new registers were installed on all HVAC openings. A new roof was also added, and her exterior trim was painted. Because of your support, others like Patti now have safe accessible homes where they can age in place.
