Habitat for Humanity Tucson has raised the walls on our 400th house!

This major milestone falls within Habitat Tucson’s celebration of 35 years serving families in Southern Arizona. The 400th house is being built in partnership with the Paz Family — a local, hardworking family who will pay a zero-interest mortgage toward full homeownership.

“For us, this is a blessing,” said Elisa Paz, who said she couldn’t contain her excitement and emotions upon finding out her family would have their own home. “Every morning, I wake up and already hope that I am in the new home.”

The family lived in a cramped trailer experiencing extreme heat in the summer and extreme cold in the winter. Soon, they will become the proud owners of a safe and stable home.

The Paz family is grateful to be able to give back to the community through volunteer work.

Now, they plan to continue volunteering with Habitat Tucson long after their move-in date.

“I’m learning how to build a home,” Elisa said excitedly. “I like what Habitat does. Habitat has a really big heart.”

Habitat Tucson’s 400^th house was completed by Habitat volunteers, staff, donations from the community and future homeowners. This is an important milestone in Habitat Tucson’s continuous efforts to build affordable homes for families in Southern Arizona.

Since 1980, Habitat Tucson has partnered with families, volunteers and neighbors to build homes and hope.
