TUCSON, Ariz. (July 2, 2014) –T. VanHook has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity Tucson. The Board conducted a nationwide search before appointing VanHook.
Working in educational and non-profit organizations for the majority of her career, VanHook has vast experience facilitating community and governmental collaborative projects for low-income populations. Most recently as Marana’s Community Development and Neighborhood Services Director, she was responsible for housing programs, grants management, public transit, and community outreach. A graduate of the University of Arizona, VanHook has spent more than 20 years working community-based human services, neighborhood, housing, and public transit programs.
“The Board of Directors knew that we needed to find a candidate with a very unique and dynamic skillset,” said Steve Cooke, Board President. “We are confident that T. VanHook’s experience being a leader in housing and community development is just the fit to continue Habitat’s legacy as southern Arizona’s largest provider of affordable housing.”
VanHook will chair the organization’s Management Team, which has three newly appointed members: Joshua “J.J.” Swinney as Director of Construction, Gordon Yarrington as Chief Operating Officer, and Patty Yates as Director of Homeowner Services.

“The entire Board of Directors is thrilled to have a team of dynamic and innovative individuals to lead an already high functioning organization and continue to fill the affordable housing needs of our community,” said Cooke. “We will see some great things coming from Habitat in the near future.”
Habitat Tucson will host a public reception later this fall to introduce the newest members of the leadership team to the community.
