Habitat homes are built in partnership with the homebuyer(s) and the community.

Become a homeowner through a rewarding experience of dedicating your time and effort for a better future.

A qualifying family pays for their home through an affordable mortgage with down payment assistance and by completing sweat-equity hours. Each Habitat homebuyer must complete 250 hours of sweat equity per applicant.

Applicant requirements

Habitat Tucson partners with families who are willing to be successful homeowners. Families learn how to pay for their homes, maintain their homes and connect with their community. We require our families to take our homebuyer education classes on topics ranging from finance and budgeting to home repair and maintenance. Additionally, Habitat provides family mentors who meet regularly with Habitat families to guide them through the home buying process.
  • Ability to  repay the mortgage

    To qualify, an applicant must prove the ability to repay the mortgage (ATR) and fall within the areas outlined in the chart below.

  • Willingness to partner

    The applicant must be willing to assist and partner in the homebuilding process

  • Demonstrated need 

    A need for housing must be demonstrated in order to qualify for home ownership

  • Income-eligible

    You must be income-eligible and fall within the areas outlined in the chart below
