June is National Healthy Homes Month

June is National Healthy Homes Month The goal is to promote the education of housing and the effects it has on health.  A 2016 study showed that Americans spend approximately 90% of their time indoors.  This greatly increases the risk of different health related issues including injuries, respiratory illnesses like asthma, and radon-induced lung cancer.  These issues can be greatly influenced by lead-based paint hazards, electrical deficiencies, pests, high radon gas levels, and more.

By taking action against different hazards that threaten inhabitants, the The Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes is teaming up with communities and other agencies to sponsor activities across the nation.  These activities are aimed towards boosting awareness of resources available to residents and communities regardless of location or income.
