Legacy Gifts That House Generations

Holly McNeill first supported Habitat for Humanity while living in the Pacific Northwest. After retiring from public health—where she witnessed firsthand how housing instability compounds poverty—she spent the last year assisting a family of four who are refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo. This has deepened her awareness of substandard housing’s toll.

"Housing support has always been near and dear to me," she reflects.

Her commitment took root in Tucson when, while enjoying her first Rodeo Parade, she noticed Habitat Tucson’s Rodeo Subdivision construction along Nogales Highway. The sight reignited her interest. “I deeply believe in Habitat’s mission—safe, stable housing is number one,” Holly says. “When I saw Habitat Tucson’s vibrant work and impact, I knew this was an organization worth supporting.”

What began with monthly donations grew into a lasting legacy. “While I volunteer elsewhere, my support for Habitat Tucson is primarily financial,” she explains. “I reached out because I wanted to become a legacy donor. Though I can’t join build sites right now, I’ve decided to make a financial commitment to Habitat Tucson when I pass away. I’m very glad I reached out.”

The process was seamless. While updating her will, Holly coordinated with Habitat Tucson and her attorney. “I’m designating a significant portion of my estate to Habitat Tucson—a substantial gift that reflects my values,” she says. “My children are provided for, and I want these resources to create lasting impact. It was important to me to arrange this now and ensure my family understands this meaningful legacy.”
