Letter from the CEO: Looking Ahead with Hope

And just like that, Fall is upon us. What an incredible year 2023 is shaping up to be. We welcomed 17 new families into the homeownership program at the end of June. It’s been a privilege to learn of their journeys, share in their ambitions, and see hope spring to life! They have fully embraced the opportunity and are immersed in our home buying program. Several of these families have already completed their construction hours. Eager is an understatement! This is the powerful impact you generate — the essence of our collective actions.

We are proud of the reality that today, thousands will wake up in a home built or repaired by Habitat Tucson. In a short amount of time, we will complete our 500th home. Because of your ongoing support and the amazing work of our staff and volunteers, Habitat Tucson continues to foster opportunity and has received recent attention for the work we’ve achieve together; garnering the Non-Profit Volunteer Program of the Year Award, through SAVMA, the Housing Hero Award from the Arizona Department of Housing, the Torch Award for Business Ethics from the Better Business Bureau. We were also finalists for the Copper Cactus Award for Social Impact from the Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce.

It’s been thrilling to see the strategic investment and innovations of the CHUCK Center unfold while envisioning new housing solutions to expand capacity and foster opportunity. The CHUCK Center has benefited from 3,631 volunteer hours in a short amount of time and is fully stocked with prefabricated wall panels built by students and volunteers in our community. By the end of the year, these panels will be transformed into the walls and future homes for 14 new families in the coming 2024.

Because of YOU, Habitat Tucson is building momentum! The needs are urgent and substantial, but the work is transformative and life-changing. By coming together, volunteers and donors like you continue to strengthen Tucson and Southern Arizona. For the first time, we have plans and people in place to increase the scale of our impact. It’s exciting indeed!

With the holidays on the horizon, we’re cognizant of the challenges and hard choices local families face in securing stable housing. We can rise to the need, and build together. Thank you for making a lasting impact with Habitat Tucson. We couldn’t do any of it without you.
