Habitat Tucson started the year unsure if we could safely shed the social distancing that defined years past. We yearned to recapture the connections and gatherings that bring us together, united in the shared belief that everyone deserves a safe, decent place to live. Priorities have been reshaped, reminding us of the importance of family, the importance of home and the sense of belonging provided through community. The pandemic taught us that we all have a role in keeping each other safe, and that by acting in unison and coming together we create a brighter future for everyone. It only happens with all of us, working together.Â
As we reflect on another year, we are grateful for all you give to Habitat. We are inspired by the return of volunteers, are honored by the trust shown through every dollar given, are motivated by your compassion, and remain in awe of the strength of future homebuyers and the resilience of home repair partners.Â
This fiscal year we have so many opportunities to celebrate: the completion of the final of 19 homes in Carters Court, starting our newest development on Whitney Lane in Marana, and launching an innovative response to two critical issues:Â accelerating the production of housing and establishing a workforce in the construction trades at the Connie Hillman Family Foundation Urban Construction Knowledge Center (CHUCK Center). The CHUCK is a collaborative investment to rapidly respond to the housing crisis and draws us closer to the world we envision: a world in which everyone has a place to call home.Â
Habitat Tucson is on solid ground. Yet even as we celebrate progress, we are mindful that the statistics around housing affordability are alarming. We remain intently focused on expanding access to critically needed homeownership and home repair services in Southern Arizona. You play an integral role in making this life-changing work possible. Thank you for your tireless commitment to the mission, you make every bit of difference!Â
We are excited for what’s on the horizon. Truly, we couldn’t do it without each of you. Thank you for supporting Habitat Tucson and building a brighter future – together.Â
In partnership,Â
