As dreams go, owning a home is the best one that could have come true for Giannina.
“This came at a perfect time,” she says. “I’m still in shock!”
Giannina’s 6-year-old son, Marcus, is just as excited. “It’s fun to think about a new bedroom!” says Marcus, likes to play basketball and soccer at the YMCA and loves his Project Shine before- and after-school program. He will probably fill that new bedroom with his favorite colors of red and blue. Marcus’ dog, Hachi, likely will also be a fixture there.
Giannina has worked for the past two years at La Cañada Life Care Center. She enjoys doing extra things for the elderly, and her work doesn’t feel like work at all. She knows all the residents – they are like friends and family. “You need to be happy with what you’re doing; if I don’t feel happy with what I’m doing, I want something else.”
Giannina is happy to put in the work necessary to become a Habitat Homeowner. She knows, in the end, it will be worth it!
“There’s nothing impossible in life,” Giannina says. “If something comes easy, it goes away easily. I am so grateful for Habitat Tucson’s help.”
