Ortiz Family

Tucson has always been home to Tucson-native Eva Ortiz and Carlos Wood. They have histories and memories here – a gift and opportunity that that they want to provide for their two children.  are raising their two children with (something here).

The family of four currently lives in a one-bedroom home where the children share the sole bedroom. It’s close quarters for everyone – a discomfort that will only increase as the children grow up. It’s not what Eva wants her children to remember of their childhoods.

A new reality is on the horizon for the family now, however. Eva and Carlos applied for a Habitat for Humanity Tucson home in search of a home that they could take pride in – a place where their family could prosper.

The family is looking forward to space, security and safety, and believes that their new home will provide all of that and more. “We’re excited,” says Eva.

After they move in to their new home, Eva will begin growing a garden, connecting with neighbors, and looks forward to the opportunity to live next to some of the people she’s met through during her volunteer experience at Habitat Tucson.

“It’s a learning experience,” she said. “It’s a lot of work.”
