Summer Home Improvement with the HabiStoreHome improvement is a big job, but the facelift your house gets is often worth the effort and payoff can often include an increase in home value! Here are a few home improvement ideas to try this summer (and most of the items can be found at the HabiStore)![mk_image src=”https://habitattucson.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/dsc_0553.jpg” image_size=”full” desc=”There’s an array of paint supplies available at the HabiStore!”]
One of the simplest improvements you can do for your home is painting it. Re-painting the colors of any room with a new color can add some life to your home, and possibly even increase its value with the average return on resale at 90 percent! When choosing your color, take into consideration what other colors are on the walls of the house, and what will compliment your furniture. Remember to consider color theory when you put together your color scheme. These time-tested strategies can make choosing the perfect color a breeze. Check out the HabiStore’s variety of eco friendly paint and paint products. We have a great selection of colors at the right price.
Another easy home improvement is to fix/replace light fixtures. Replacing bulbs is the obvious first step, but if you want to really liven up a room try adding a new light cover or chandelier top. Another easy fix is to replace covers and shades that need an upgrade. Finally, the new lights may even improve the look of your walls and make your home that much more appealing to you, and to potential buyers.
Replacing or insulating windows can be a simple task and cut down on your energy bills. Old windows and weather stripping means more drafts and leaks, which lead to higher costs of heating and cooling. Remember, when approaching the process of window replacement, you don’t need a license, however, you are working on a hole in your wall. Make sure to consult a professional before attempting to replace your windows by yourself.[mk_image src=”https://habitattucson.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/habistore-doors-large.jpg” image_size=”full” desc=”The HabiStore has a broad selection of doors, with prices ranging between $10-$20.”]
Replacing a door in your house can be a nice accent to your summer home renovations. With a plethora of design choices out there, you’re bound to find a door that perfectly expresses your style. If you don’t like the color, don’t be afraid to change it! A quick paint job or lacquer application can give a door new personality and flair. A replacement of doors also has a practical application; it can have an incredibly high return on investment due to savings in energy costs.
Kitchen and bathroom improvements can be more labor intensive. These kinds of upgrades can include replacing your toilet, sink or cabinetry. Changing out your old toilet for a more energy efficient model can save on your water bill. Fixing any leaky piping can also help you save on your water bill. Installing cabinetry can expand and better utilize your storage. Plus, it will give your kitchen or bathroom a neat and tidier look.[mk_image src=”https://habitattucson.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/dsc_0538.jpg” image_size=”full” desc=”Everything from cabinetry to sinks can be found at the HabiStore.”]Furniture
