Tucson Electric Power, Habitat Tucson and Literacy Connects come together to ‘Rock the Block’ in honor of TEP’s 125th Birthday.
Saturday, October 28, 2017
8 am- 1 pm
Tucson Electric Power will be celebrating their 125th birthday on October 28th with a day of service. TEP employees and their families will volunteer their time to help improve a Tucson neighborhood by partnering with LiteracyConnects to repair their property and help Habitat for Humanity Tucson to break ground at Minton Court, a new 9-home affordable housing development in the Amphi neighborhood. The Amphi neighborhood is one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in our local community with one of the highest percentage of youth residents.
Residents of the Amphi community are invited to attend the event to learn more about the project. Habitat Tucson homeowner services will provide a booth for homeonwership / home repair outreach and Literacy Connects will provide supervised activities for children within their facility.
TEP volunteers will work on improving the neighborhood by cleaning up the Literacy Connects grounds and preparing the Minton Court site for future construction, including painting, clearing weeds and debris, trimming trees, breaking up old curbs and leveling of dirt to prepare for increased parking for Literacy Connects and foundations for the new homes.
Join us & learn about:
→ Homeownership
→ Home Repair
→ Local Resources
→ Fun children’s activities
→ Facepainting, stories & more
→ Groundbreaking on 9 affordable homes
