A Tucson family will soon move into a new home, just in time for the holidays.A housewarming gift can be anything that makes a house more functional, or it can be a gift that makes a house feel like a home. A homemade quilt truly warms a house with the thought and care that goes into making these unique one of a kind quilts.
At our Habitat Tucson home dedications, community members donate in-kind gifts to new homeowners. Along with home toolkits that include paper towels and tools, books for young children to stack in bookshelves of their new rooms, a quilt made by Voyage RV Quilters 2 or other community members has become a staple of the dedications.
Marti Price of Voyage RV Quilters 2 was very busy this year and donated a total of nine quilts to Habitat Tucson, one of which was a special quilt of valor for our this year’s veterans build home.
These quilts are a special memento of an emotional and rewarding day. Our Habitat families work so hard to reach their goal of homeownership. And the home dedication is the apex of their journey and their accomplishments. We like to think of the quilt representing different aspects of the family’s personal journey to this day. Every family’s journey is unique as is every quilt and our Habitat families always accept these quilts with a genuine appreciation for what this gift and this day represent.
Thank you to Voyage RV Quilters 2 and to all our other community partners for making our home dedications even more special than we could have imagined for our homeowners.
