Kuch & Gai Family

Elizabeth Gai and Solomon Kuch have lived in Tucson for 12 years, but now it will truly feel like home.

While the family is thankful for what they have now, Solomon and Elizabeth are exhausted by the challenges that seem to go along with renting,

“There is no stability,” says Solomon. “I want stability for the kids. We want to work toward something we can call our home.”

Solomon worked hard to bring his family here from South Sudan. With two jobs here, he still works hard. Solomon is a residential behavior coach at Intermountain Centers for Human Development and works at Arizona Mentors Network. It’s all paying off, as the Kuch-Gais prepare to be Habitat Homeowners.

“Sometimes we women like to have our own home – you feel good – I can do whatever I like!” says Elizabeth, a stay-at-home mom. The sisters can’t wait to have their own bedrooms.

“Habitat cares for human dignity, and that is noble,” says Solomon. “They give people hope.”
